Thursday, March 19, 2026

With great success and deep emotion, the 3rd Choral Festival of the Lighthouse for the Blind of Greece took place yesterday—an evening filled with joy, music, and togetherness, as part of the celebration of the organization’s 80 years of bright and creative presence.

The event was opened, as always, by Panagiota Marioli, Head of Communications and presenter of all Lighthouse events, with her characteristic kindness and the warmth of her voice. She then welcomed the audience and officially declared the opening of the festival.

From that moment on, the packed hall was filled with light, song, and smiles. Warm applause and genuine human connection accompanied every performance, turning the evening into a unique celebration of love and friendship.

The stage hosted the choirs Rosarte, the Cultural Center of OTE Employees of Attica, Erodoi of the Union of Dardanelians “Agios Theodoros,” Peliades, and of course the Lighthouse Choir, offering unforgettable moments of music and emotion.

Particularly impressive were the young singers of Rosarte, who performed with remarkable maturity and professionalism, filling the stage with youthful purity and brilliance. The programs of all ensembles took the audience on a journey through well-known Greek melodies, traditional sounds, and international works, creating a rich musical palette full of color and feeling.

The event reached its peak with the outstanding performance of the Lighthouse Choir, conducted by Kostas Tsimpidas, with musical accompaniment by Maria Georgakarakou, who is also responsible for vocal coaching.

The songs—familiar and beloved—were warmly embraced by the audience and received prolonged applause.

As a token of love and gratitude, handmade gifts—carefully crafted by members of the Lighthouse’s handicraft workshops—along with colorful bouquets, were offered to each choir by the President of the Board, Maria Tzevelekou, the General Secretary Gogo Louzi, the Deputy General Secretary Antonis Yavris, and the Lighthouse’s dear friend, , Former Member of Parliament (State Deputy) of New Democracy and Vice President of the National Accessibility Authority, Ms. Eleftheria Bernidaki Aldous, in a touching atmosphere of appreciation, admiration, and a promise for future musical gatherings.

The evening concluded with the presentation of commemorative participation awards and the offering of small sweets, in an atmosphere of emotion, gratitude, and joy—once again proving that music has the power to unite souls.

The Lighthouse for the Blind of Greece expresses its deep gratitude to all the choirs for their honorable and excellent artistic presence, to the conductors and musicians for their creative contribution, and to everyone who honored the evening with their presence.

A heartfelt “thank you” is extended to: Konstantina Giannakopoulou, Olga Kagkaraki, Konstantinos Koutsoumpas, Christina Malamou, Panagiota Marioli, Georgia Mila, and Georgia Nomikou, who, with dedication, passion, and team spirit, worked tirelessly for the smooth and brilliant organization of the event.

80 years after its founding, the Lighthouse continues to shine with faith, culture, and humanity, keeping alive the message that music is light—and light belongs to everyone.
