Ceramic and Sculpture Workshop “Petros Roukoutakis”

The Ceramics and Sculpture Workshop “Petros Roukoutakis” was created in 1990, by the late Petros Roukoutakis, the only Greek blind sculptor, giving the unique chance to blind and visually impaired people, the newly-blinded and especially the visually impaired with other disabilities, to develop their touch and their dexterities.

Ceramics and sculpture are the only visual arts that can give a blind person a cognitive experience, creative expression and development of the imagination to complete their personality. At the same time, it allows the development of skills in their most sensitive tool, their hand and through a totally creative and team experience, it contributes to social bonding. The creations of the participants are displayed for sale in the small shop in the Tactual Museum and in bazaars organized by the Lighthouse for the Blind of Greece and other organizations.

The workshop is equipped with wheels, a kneader, a press and two ovens.
